25 Things I Learned in 2014

1. I am capable of so much more than I know.

2. If someone doesn’t want to be with you, that’s their loss.

3. There is an appalling number of people who do not not understand what feminism means or how it’s still relevant today. Try not to punch them.

4. If you want to see a professional therapist or counselor but don’t have the means to pay, get yourself on a wait-list about a year in advance.

5. There are times when school will interfere with learning. Recognize those times.

6. Never trust anyone who scoffs at children’s literature.

7. Growing up is about the bringing the magic to reality.

8. It’s more about learning how to learn, as opposed to learning the material itself.

9. There’s no rush.

10. Fluffy things will always make it better.

11. It’s way too easy to look back on success and forget the costs it came with. Be careful.

12. Never assume that common sense is a given.

13. Trust that you are good enough.

14. We are never out of the woods.

15. Friendships will form so subtly that you won’t even notice it happening.

16. Don’t ever dumb yourself down for anything, whether it be for a job, money, experience, or for another person.

17. The haters can come in all different shapes and forms, even in the forms of those you love.

18. Parents do occasionally know what they’re talking about. Other times, not so much.

19. It’s a lot easier to hate someone than to love them.

20. It’s not necessary to check your work email twice every hour, even if there are new messages there.

21. If you procrastinate by working, you’re in the right place.

22. It’s far better to be loved than to be feared.

23. If you ever find yourself thinking, “I am better than this,” prove it.

24. Believe in better.

25. Look at the big picture.
