Imagining You: Self-Reflecting through Writing

Course Header.png

This is a 6-week virtual course in creative writing and self-reflection designed to help participants improve self-awareness and imagination. It is offered through PFAU Academic Writing.

About this Event

Has the pandemic left your restless? Would you benefit from stillness and reflection to add more joy and purpose to your days? Join us in this 6-week virtual course dedicated to re-centering your outlook and routine.

Writing can be a powerful tool for reflection and self-awareness, and dedicating time for creativity is central to effective self-care. In this setting, you will have opportunities to explore your writing voice and share your work in a safe, intimate space.

Over the course of these 6 classes (1.5 hours each), we will be relying on writing prompts, guided meditations and visualizations, improv exercises, and reading out loud to develop daily self-care habits and listen to our bodies and surroundings.

This workshop is ideal for anyone looking for a creative outlet during lockdown. Everyone is welcome, particularly BIPOC and beginner writers. Bring some paper, a pen/pencil, and get ready for a 6 packed classes of writing and reflecting!

Course Schedule

Class 1 – Truth: Good writing is rooted in noticing truth rather than making things up.

Class 2 – Gratitude: Celebrate the impact that little things have in your life.

Class 3 – Intention: Moving through life with intention helps us avoid being swept with the current.

Class 4 – Inspiration: Reject the notion of “tortured genius” and stop waiting for creativity to find you.

Class 5 – Forgiveness: Letting go does not need to be a large gesture but can begin with small steps.

Class 6 – Love: To tie it all together, this class invites you to love in all its complexities and bring that forth into the world.

This course is completely ONLINE, which mean there is a LIVE STREAM with the instructor Wednesdays at 6:30pm, followed by access to the class video and course materials through our classroom portal. This means that you can post your assignments and communicate with me at your own pace over the duration of the course, and don't need to worry about missing a class because you can catch up by viewing the video.
